Hello, we just had our first event with Funraise last night! I really wish two things were possible:
checking people in from the app without a QR code
not having to apply specific filters to the registrations page, and rather, being able to blanket search a name and have any relation to it pop up.
People don’t always save emails with QR codes and so we checked in completely on the platform. Finding a guest is cumbersome, even with our data entry process well refined. We had to filter by supporter ID, and if they weren’t there because they ticket purchaser didn’t give us their guest name (a common event scenario) we then had to search Guest of ID. If they weren’t there, we had to add the supporter, add a registration for that supporter, and then remember to go back and check them in. It was a ton of clicks for a process that should be solvable with a simple search field!
Using the paper guest list reccomendation shouldn’t be a thing in 2026, we paid for the technology to be able to use the technology on site, so I really don’t think this is a reasonable way to work events with a large crowd!
Any workarounds or product updates in place for this?
Congrats on your first event with Funraise! Thanks for sharing these insights. I know we were able to speak today about these items, but I wanted to add context here as well in case other organizations are searching for the same thing.
Funraise’s team is currently in deep dive focus on event functionality and event workflows. As a part of this effort we are interviewing many customers and a common insight during these sessions has been around event check-in processes. Your feedback about an easy search and check-in process, bothin the app and platform, are heard and align other feedback we’ve received in this area.
We have a nice list of event features we’re working on and the check-in process and registration management workflows are top of mind for our product team.
While we do expect to have improvements that enable a faster check-in from platform/app soon, for anyone viewing this thread in the meantime — a common approach is to export registration data into a Google Sheet that is formatted as nice table where your team can quickly search details like (name, company, guest of name, etc.) and click to mark a guest as arrived. From a speed and ease of use perspective, that would likely be the best option… until our improvements bring that speed right into the platform/app.
Thank you for this feedback, it is impacting the Future of Funraise for all organizations
Thank you for following up so quickly! A quick search bar will be absolutely critical in making sure event check-ins run smoothly. And if there is any way to have the app run the same way (IE - be able to quickly search names versus ONLY using QR codes) that will help us tremendously as volunteers can work through lines with their phones to get guests into the event faster.
